Nokia has already brought to the market a smartphone packing some of the latest enhancements in the mobile space out there, namely the Nokia Lumia 1520, and it seems that the company could launch even more powerful devices this year.

According to the latest reports on the matter, Nokia is getting ready for the launch of Windows Phone 8 handsets with Snapdragon 805 processors inside, targeting the very high-end of the smartphone market.

Furthermore, 2014 is expected to bring along Nokia phones with 2K screens, yet another feature that will make Microsoft’s platform even more appealing than before.

The company is expected to improve the camera capabilities of its devices as well, focusing on 20-megapixel sensors, at least this is what a new report from NokiaPowerUser reads.

Apparently, the handset vendor plans the launch of more powerful smartphones in the mid-tier range as well, including products that would sport quad-core processors.

No official confirmation on this has been provided as of now, and we’ll have to take the info above with a grain of salt, though chances are that the rumor will pan out in the end.

Microsoft is gearing up for taking over Nokia, a move that was announced several months ago, and might also be set to release new devices that would position Windows Phone better on the market.

This means that the company could indeed plan the launch of smartphones that would easily compete with Android handsets at the high-end level, and the inclusion of the latest innovations in the industry inside these products will help it in this direction.

Furthermore, we might also see it release more powerful smartphones in the low- and mid-range segments of the market, especially since Windows Phone devices are increasingly popular there.

However, we’ll have to wait for an official confirmation on this before raising our hopes high, since it might all prove to be nothing more than a rumor in the end. Stay tuned for additional info on this.
