Stephen Elop, Nokia's CEO, will keynote this year's Open Mobile Summit, set to kick off on Wednesday June 8th in London, which would bring together leaders from the mobile, internet and media industry. At the event, representatives of these companies are expected to discuss means that could help manufacturers catch up with Apple in various aspects, including on the tablet PC area.

Stephen Elop is expected to discuss the future of devices with Corporate Vice Presidents of Motorola, LG Electronics, Sony Ericsson and HTC.

However, this is not the only aspect that industry leaders would discuss at the event.

Amazon’s mobile category lead, Aaron Rubenson, is expected to be present that the event to talk about the manner in which Amazon hopes it would manage to monetize Android with the newly launched app store.

Peter Vesterbacka from Rovio (the company that launched the highly popular Angry Birds game) will also be there to join discussion.

“The response to this London event has been phenomenal,” Robin Batt, managing director and executive producer, said.

“The conference sold out a week ahead of time and we’re now fighting to accommodate demand at the venue. It’s very exciting to see an audience of this size and stature attending in London.”

On Wednesday, a UK Apps Showcase will be hosted, with the most talented and creative app developers set to be brought to the spotlight. Little Fluffy Toys, BigDog Interactive, HulloMail, HipSnip, Touchtype, Jeego, Toytek and Ribot will be shocasing creations.

“This is a once in a life-time opportunity for many of these start-ups. It’s rare to have access to so many industry leaders in an intimate environment, which is why the Open Mobile Summit never fails to disappoint,” Robin Batt continued.

At the Open Mobile Summit, companies will discuss the future of mobile content as well, and the manner in which the increasing demand for applications, games, programming, multimedia and games, or services on mobile devices can be met.
