The new Nokia music service launches on October 2

Nokia has just announced that its Comes With Music service will first be launched in the UK, in a collaboration with Carphone Warehouse, the giant mobile phone retailer.

The new service will be embedded in a special version of the 5310 candybar, awkwardly named "Nokia 5310 XpressMusic Comes With Music Edition." Users who buy the handset will have one-year access to the Nokia Music Store catalog (more than 2 million tracks), being able to download as many songs as they want, for free. All the downloaded songs will be listenable even after the one-year period ends, but only on the 5310 handset and on its owner's desktop PC.

"We believe that Comes With Music will transform the way people enjoy music," says Tero Ojanperä, executive vice president and head of the Nokia Entertainment and Communities business. "With unlimited music access for a year, you can enjoy your favorite artists or delve into new genres without having to worry about individual track or album purchases."

Simon Ainslie, managing director at Nokia UK, added, "Comes With Music is the most compelling digital music offer ever introduced to the UK. You get a fantastic Nokia device with unlimited access for a year to a huge catalog of music. We're thrilled to be working with Carphone Warehouse to bring Comes With Music to the UK."

And finally, Andrew Harrison, CEO at The Carphone Warehouse UK, stated, "We expect the Nokia 5310 Comes With Music to be the gift for Christmas and at the top of all shopping lists. We know how much our customers love music and we hope to make music millionaires of people everywhere."

The Comes With Music Nokia 5310 will be commercially available from Carphone Warehouse starting October 2, for a price that has not been announced yet – it should be higher than the one of the regular 5310 anyway.
