Nokia 6881 and Nokia 6101

The 3GSM World event was the scene were Nokia introduced the new edition of the Series 60 Platform, the world's leading smartphone software. This will enable Series 60 smartphone manufacturers to create handsets for various user segments, device formats and better target high volume consumer markets. With the third edition of the Series 60, Nokia is unveiling an unprecedented combination enabling licensees to design enterprise grade devices.

New features focus on enhanced multimedia and enterprise functionality, sustainable application business support, state-of-the-art customization enablers and improved platform architecture. Other features, present in older versions of the OS will still be available, such as multiradio, extensive application suite, scalable UI and high-resolution support.

Nokia also unveiled two new phones and a music service.

The first phone is the Nokia 6681 and is equipped with a 1.3 MP camera and a flash, Internet browser and it can run MP3s and AAC files. What's new about this smartphone is it comes with Adobe Photoshop Album and it supports Nokia XpressPrint. This phone is compatible with EDGE technology, the screen has is a 262,144 color beauty and the memory can be jumped by a MMC card. The price for this phone is set to around 450 Euro.

The second phone is Nokia 6101, which is set to be released in retail stores in Q2 and will have a 250 Euro price tag. It will come with a 0,3 MP digital camera and a 4,096 color external screen, and a 65,536 color screen on the inside. This phone will include the Nokia Xpress audio messaging technology, which enables users to record and send audio messages via a GPRS network, much like a walkie-talkie.

Last, but not least, Nokia announced the launch of its own download music service and also a streaming service for 3G/EDGE compatible mobile phones. This service will also be available to PC users, the music files are WMAs, and for cell phone users, music will be protected by OMA DRM 1.0 and 2.0
