Nokia fans in India rejoice, as the Finnish company is about to debut its best Android smartphone announced back in February, the Nokia XL.

This is the better-featured smartphone in the X family of smartphones, so those who restrained themselves from getting the cheap Nokia X will soon be able to grab the XL for an affordable price, hopefully.

According to IndianExpress, Nokia XL will land in India today, May 1. Unfortunately, we don’t have any details regarding the phone’s price tag, but we suspect that it will be priced way under Rs 15,000 ($250 / €180).

For the time being, Indian retailer Flipkart has the Nokia XL on “Coming Soon” without any price tags attached to it, but this is an indication that the smartphone will arrive soon.

We can safely assume that Nokia, or let’s say Microsoft Mobile, will launch the dual-SIM version of the XL in India, while the single-SIM variant will be released in other countries where carriers do not favor the release of dual-SIM phones.

Nokia XL will ship with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but it will run Nokia’s Fastlane UI, which is now included in the latest Asha smartphones.

The operating system running on the XL has been tweaked to include Nokia and Microsoft’s various services, such as HERE Maps and Bing Search.

All Google services and apps have been replaced with their Nokia and Microsoft correspondent, so if you are a Google fan, you might want to avoid the XL.

It is also worth mentioning that Nokia XL does not come with Google Play Store installed. Instead, it offers access to lots of Android apps and games via Nokia Store and a few more third-party stores that can be installed easily.

Hardware-wise, Nokia XL does not look impressive at all, but it’s better than the other two X family smartphones. The XL is equipped with a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play processor inside, along with an Adreno 203 graphics processing unit and 768MB of RAM.

It also comes with a larger 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) resolution. Nokia XL packs only 4GB of internal memory, but storage can be further expanded via microSD memory card (up to 32GB).

Nokia XL should be available in multiple color options, including bright green, orange, cyan, yellow, black, white, but we’re not sure how many of these will be in stock at launch. Stay tuned for more updates on the Nokia XL’s release in India.
