The best smartphone in the X family, Nokia XL, has just hit shelves in India. Microsoft officially introduced the smartphone about two weeks ago and promised that the Nokia XL would soon go on sale in the country.

Well, it appears that the device arrived in India in mid-May, as Indian blog site Gogi reports that Nokia XL can now be purchased for no less than Rs 11,049 outright, which is about $185 or €135.

The only authorized reseller that offers the Nokia XL for the moment is The Mobile Store, but the phone seems a bit overpriced, as Microsoft announced yesterday that the affordable smartphone should go on sale for around $150 (€110) off contract.

The Mobile Store claims that the Nokia XL is already in stock and that it will ship all orders in 3 to 6 days. It is also worth mentioning that potential customers will be able to choose from multiple color options such as: Black, White, Blue, Green, Orange and Yellow.

No deals are offered with the purchase of the Nokia XL via The Mobile Store, but customers will receive 1-year warranty for the smartphone.

Unlike the previous models in the X family, the Nokia XL comes with a large 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and only 187ppi (pixel density).

The smartphone ships with a modified version of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system with Nokia X platform 1.0 UI on top. The only modification made by Nokia is the replacement of all Google apps and services with its own and Microsoft’s.

This means that Nokia XL owners won’t have access to Google Play Store, but they will be able to download and install apps and games via Nokia Store and other third-party stores. In addition, the Google Maps services have been replaced with HERE suite of apps.

Apart from that, the Nokia XL can be considered an Android smartphone. Hardware-wise, the handset comes equipped with a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play processor, an Adreno 203 graphics processing unit and 768MB of RAM.

Nokia XL packs only 4GB of internal memory, but users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

On the back, the affordable Android smartphone sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front, there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

The smartphone offers a wide range of connectivity options, including 3G HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS support and dual-SIM capability.
