Microsoft might have announced the death of the Android-based Nokia X series of devices a couple of weeks back, but it appears that the company is still moving forth with the previously planned release of some device models.

Thus, a 4G LTE flavor of the Nokia XL smartphone has become official in China, offering support for TD-LTE networks in the country, which means that users interested in grabbing it will enjoy its capabilities on China Mobile.

The mobile phone is set to become available for purchase in the country as soon as the next month, yet no specific info on its release date or pricing has been provided as of now.

Nokia XL 4G will be put up for sale in China with a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor inside, which is paired with 1GB of RAM, thus offering faster performance capabilities to its users.

This updated flavor of Nokia XL will land on shelves with support for TDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, GSM, WCDMA standards, which means that it will offer global roaming capabilities, a post on Nokia Conversations China reads.

Moreover, the smartphone is said to be capable of delivering a true 4G experience, as 2G/3G calls will be managed independently of Internet connectivity.

The upcoming mobile phone will also sport a 5.0-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a WVGA resolution, so that users can enjoy appealing gaming and web browsing experiences while on the go.

On the back, the smartphone features a 5-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, paired with a 3MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

The handset also sports the usual Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, along with a GPS receiver for navigation capabilities. Moreover, it is powered by a 2000mAh battery that can deliver up to 500 hours of standby time.

The same as the rest of the smartphones included in the Nokia X series of devices, the Nokia XL 4G comes to the market with the Android operating system loaded on top.

It is the same forked version of Android loaded on the other phones in the lineup, with Nokia’s own set of applications and services loaded on top. Moreover, the handset sports the Nokia Fastlane interface and MixRadio as well.

Additionally, it was released with a nice range of Microsoft services and applications pre-loaded, including Bing search, OneDrive, Outlook, and more. Thus, its users will enjoy 15GB of free storage space on OneDrive right from the start.

Unfortunately, it appears that only users in China will be able to take advantage of the 4G capabilities of the new Nokia XL smartphone. No info on the possible release of the device on other markets has been provided as of now.
