In February, Nokia unveiled to the world its first handsets running under the Android operating system, in the form of Nokia X, and it seems that a second-generation lineup is already being prepared.

Rumors on the matter emerged for the first time several weeks ago, when a certain Nokia X2 handset made it online, and some more info on the device is now available.

According to a report coming from BGR.in, the Nokia X successor could make an official debut as soon as this month and might be launched in India first.

Apparently, Microsoft is planning on making the smartphone official during the last week of June, though no specific info on when it might start arriving on shelves has been provided as of now.

The Nokia X2 is said to sport model number RM-1013 and to have already arrived in India for testing purposes, which could indicate a near release in the country.

However, there might be no connection between the two, though the phone will certainly be released in the country as well, especially since the Nokia X has proved popular among end-users here.

The upcoming device is expected to arrive on shelves with a dedicated home button, something that was not present on the smartphones in the original lineup.

The Nokia X handsets came to the market only with a back button, which reportedly caused some confusion among users, as they had to press it multiple times to go to the home screen.

At the same time, the new smartphone is said to arrive on the market with improved hardware specifications when compared to the predecessor, including a 4.3-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a WVGA (800×480 pixels) resolution.

Nokia X2 is also expected to be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, which should be paired with 1GB of RAM. Thus, it will certainly be able to provide users with a much better experience when compared to what Nokia X had to offer.

The upcoming mobile phone is also said to include 4GB of internal memory, along with a 5-megapixel camera on the back, which is complemented by a VGA front-facing camera.

The same as its predecessor, the new Nokia X2 should include dual-SIM capabilities, though it remains to be seen what version of Android it will run under.

Nokia X was released with the older Jelly Bean platform on top, but Microsoft might decide to go for the newer KitKat OS version instead. Hopefully, more on this will be provided soon, so stay tuned to learn the news.
