A new handset is out from the Espoo, Finland-based handset vendor Nokia

, aimed at offering music features to a wide range of users that are budget conscious, namely the Nokia X1-00.

The new device is expected to retail at less than €35, and should provide music lovers in emerging markets with a nice range of hardware features.

“This is a music lovers’ phone. You probably guessed that anyway from the massive speaker on the back, rated at 106phon (a phon is a measure of perceived loudness – 106 of them is enough to rattle your window frames, apparently),” a recent post on Nokia Conversations explains.

“The frequency response has been tweaked somewhat, though, so that the sound remains undistorted at higher volumes, unlike most mobile phones.”

The new Nokia X1-00 sports a 3.5mm audio jack too, so that users can easily plug in their headphones or speakers.

Among the other music-oriented features that the new device arrives on shelves with, we can count three dedicated player keys, along with a nifty single-key playlist creator.

Moreover, the new device comes with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 16GB of additional storage space. Integrated FM radio offers users the possibility to stay on top of news.

“Also making a welcome reappearance is the dedicated torch on the device. This is fairly rare in devices intended for Western cities, where there’s always some ambient light, but pretty important if you live in a place where the power supply is unreliable or where there is no electricity at all,” the said post continues.

The handset can support a number of up to five phone books. The specifications list of this device would also include the Series 30 operating system, a music player app, calendar, clock and calculator, and some pre-loaded games.

The new Nokia X1-00 measures 112.2 x 47.3 x 16mm and weighs 91g. It includes a battery that can offer a standby time of up to 61 days.
