Last month, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has officially announced the launch of its first smartphone running under Google’s Android operating system, and the device appears to have already conquered the hearts of millions.

The handset was put up for pre-order in China only four days ago, and it seems that it has already seen over one million reservations, at least this is what the company has announced via its weibo account, as gforgames has discovered.

Nokia has announced plans to make the device available in the country on March 25, which is only 11 days from now, and it remains to be seen how well the pre-orders will go.

Nokia X was announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona as an entry-level device, running under a forked version of the Android operating system, without the usual Google services loaded on top.

Nokia has loaded its own HERE Maps on the device, along with Nokia Store for access to various applications. Of course, users won’t receive access to the entire range of Android apps out there, but there will be plenty to choose from.

Nokia X has been a controversial smartphone ever since the first rumors on it emerged online, especially considering the company’s commitment to Windows Phone, and the fact that it agreed to sell its handset business to Microsoft last year.

One way or the other, Nokia X should prove a great device for users on a budget. It comes with a 4-inch IPS touchscreen capable of delivering an 800 x 480 pixel resolution, as well as with a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Play processor inside.

Moreover, the smartphone packs 512MB of RAM, as well as 4GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot to allow users to add some more storage to it. On the back, the handset features a 3MP camera, with no front camera included.

Nokia has unveiled the Android handset with a price tag of only €89 ($124) attached to it, unlocked and SIM-free.

Considering the fact that the entry-level smartphone segment is one of the most flourishing markets in China at the moment, Nokia might easily attract another million users to its smartphone before it brings it to shelves on March 25.

Nokia X has been already put up for grabs in other emerging markets out there, such as India, and is expected to prove popular there as well. However, users in North America, for example, won’t be able to purchase the device anytime soon.
