Unveiled early last week, Nokia’s first family of Android smartphones, Nokia X is already available for purchase in several European countries.

Nokia’s series of Android devices comprises three smartphones for the moment, but not all have been released on the market. The Nokia X can now be ordered through several major European retailers for a slightly higher price than recommended by the Finnish company.

On the other hand, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL have been confirmed to arrive in early Q2, so pre-orders might kick off in several weeks from now.

Basically, the Nokia X is the only Android smartphone launched by the Finnish handset maker that can now be pre-ordered or purchased in various countries.

According to Nokia, the X will be available globally with a few exceptions like North America (Canada and the United States), Korea and Japan.

The reasons behind Nokia’s decision to skip these countries from the launch of its Android smartphones are unknown for the moment, but the company confirmed it would try and focus with the Nokia X family on emerging markets.

Nevertheless, this does not explain the upcoming availability of the Nokia X in some well-developed markets, such as Finland and the UK.

Malaysia is one of the emerging markets where Nokia plans to regain its former glory and the X family of smartphones is one of the many weapons the Finnish company hopes to use to achieve its goals.

UnleashThePhones reports Nokia X has been officially introduced in Malaysia, but it will only go on sale next week and only in the Klang Valley. The rest of the country will get the Nokia X in about two weeks from now.

Potential customers in Malaysia can now pre-order the Nokia X in white, black, bright green and bright red for only $120 (€90) outright, which is exactly the retail price recommended by the Finnish handset maker.

Unfortunately, there are no details on whether or not this price is for the single SIM or dual-SIM version of the Nokia X. We expect more info to emerge closer to launch, so stay tuned for more on this.

Those interested in acquiring the affordable smartphone should know the Nokia X ships with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

The handset is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 512MB of RAM. It also packs 4GB of internal memory, microSD card slot (up to 32GB) and 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display.
