Mobile phone users in China interested in the purchase of Nokia X, the first Android-based smartphone from the Finnish mobile phone maker, can already reserve the handset through online retailer JD.com.

Nokia has partnered with this company for the launch of Nokia X in China and has kicked off pre-orders for it over the weekend, at a price of 599 Yuan, which would translate into around $100/€70.

Basically, this makes the smartphone cheaper in the territory when compared to what Nokia announced for the device during the unveiling event at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, namely €89/$123.

As for availability in the country, Nokia has announced that its Android-based phone will land on shelves on March 24, less than two weeks from now.

The handset will be available through JD.com exclusively, a move that was announced on February 24, when Nokia officially launched the device.

As LiveSide notes, the retailer has already received around 30,000 pre-orders for the smartphone, though users will be able to pay for it only on March 24, and they will receive their units only afterwards.

JD.com is also offering a free set of service subscriptions and gift cards to the first 10,000 Nokia X buyers, which should make the phone even more appealing than it already is at the aforementioned low price tag.

It should also be noted that Nokia China and Android UI designer Lewa have partnered to provide a custom launcher for Nokia X in China. However, users are also provided with the possibility to switch to the default Nokia X UI.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Nokia X was made official with a 4.0-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 480 x 800 pixels resolution, and that it is powered by a dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon S4 Play processor.

The mobile phone also packs 512MB of RAM inside, along with 4GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

Moreover, it comes with a 3-megapixel camera on the back, Li-Ion 1500mAh battery inside, and the usual set of sensors. The handset packs 3G (HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps) connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS receiver.

Nokia X does not run under a full version of Android, as it was stripped of Google services, and Nokia has loaded its own set of products on it, including HERE Maps, Nokia Store, and others. The handset is expected to arrive on shelves worldwide soon, but it won’t be released in the United States.
