We reported about two weeks ago that the recently leaked Nokia Normandy, also known as Nokia X, might be released under the Asha series.

One of the press renders that emerged online last month had the time on the display set for 10:45, March 25, which led us to believe that the device would be released as Nokia Asha 1045 on March 25.

It’s also worth mentioning that some Indian names also appeared on the display, which was another indication that the dual-SIM smartphone might be aimed at the Indian market.

Well, it looks like the logic behind these speculations was somewhat accurate, as new details confirming the upcoming release of the Nokia Normandy in India have just surfaced online.

The folks over at Go Android claim they have been informed by a senior Nokia India executive officer that the Normandy will be launched in India in March under the Asha series of smartphones.

Although the person behind the rumor did not specify an exact release date for the Nokia Normandy, this is in line with the previous leaked info that pointed to a March release as Asha 1045.

For the time being, none of the Normandy’s specs have been confirmed with the exception of the fact that it will offer dual-SIM support. However, all rumors claim that the smartphone will be powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, complemented by 512MB of RAM.

In addition, the Normandy is said to pack only 4GB of internal memory, but users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card. It will also pack a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, but no front-facing camera for video calls.

We expect Nokia Normandy to be released in other markets as well, though the dual-SIM version might be only available in emerging markets. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
