Mobile phone users in India interested in the purchase of a Nokia X smartphone should know that Airtel now has an appealing offer available for them, which includes three months of free 3G data.

The smartphone was released in India last month, and the wireless carrier appears set to attract people who want to purchase the new device to its network with this deal.

As part of the offer, users will receive 500MB of 3G data for free for three months, though they will need to sign up for a contract agreement with the wireless carrier in order to take advantage of it.

Apparently, the wireless carrier has launched a similar deal for users in areas where 3G is not available, allowing users to take advantage of Internet access via its 2G network.

“India is witnessing a tremendous growth in smartphone adoption. Airtel is committed to offering smartphone users best-in-class mobile internet experience,” Kartik Sheth, CEO – Data & Devices, Bharti Airtel, said.

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Nokia for their new device Nokia X. The exciting offer of 500 MB per month free 3G data for 3 months will enable customers to make the most of their new Nokia X device.”

Nokia X was made official in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, as the first smartphone from Nokia to arrive on shelves with the Android operating system loaded on top.

The handset was launched in India with dual-SIM capabilities packed inside, yet the aforementioned offer from Airtel is available only for the first SIM card inserted in the device, fonearena notes.

Moreover, users might want to know that the offer is valid only for devices bought before June 30. Both existing and new Airtel customers can benefit from the deal, it seems.

Nokia X is an entry-level device, yet it has already managed to attract a lot of users to its side. It sports a 4-inch touchscreen display, a dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, a 3MP camera, and a forked version of Android loaded on top, without support for the usual set of Google services.

“Nokia aims to constantly enhance user experience through innovative associations. The newly launched Nokia X offers the unique combination of access to Android apps, coupled with signature Nokia experiences and Microsoft services,” Viral Oza, Director – Marketing, Nokia, said.

“We wanted to bring this experience to our consumers in the most seamless way. With this offer, Nokia and Airtel have come together to make this possible. This reinforces Nokia’s commitment towards working with our partners within the ecosystem to deliver the best user experiences.”
