Nokia X, the first Android-based smartphone from Nokia, appears to have stirred the interest of a great deal of users in China after Nokia officially kicked off reservations for the device in this country.

The phone was made available for pre-order in this market last week, and should become available for purchase there on March 24, with millions of people already seemingly interested in grabbing it.

Nokia has made the phone available for orders in advance exclusively via online retailer JD.com, which is currently showing that over 4 million people have expressed their interest in the device.

Furthermore, Nokia X page at the retailer unveils that the black version of the phone is the most sought for, with over 2 million people already ordering it.

The white version comes in second, with over 1.1 million pre-orders, followed by the green variant, which has seen a bit more than 850,000 reservations to date.

With six days left until the phone actually hits shelves in China, chances are that the pre-order figures for it will almost double.

However, it remains to be seen how many of those who reserved the phone will also make a purchase, since the pre-orders system does not require them to pay for it right from the start.

They will have priority when it comes to actually grabbing the new smartphone, but there’s no guarantee that all reservations will translate into actual acquisitions, as WPCentral notes.

Even so, it’s more than clear that users are curious to learn more on what Nokia’s Android phone has to offer, which could prove a great thing for the company in terms of actual shipments.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Nokia X was unveiled with a 4-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 480 x 800-pixel resolution, and with a 1GHz dual-core processor packed inside.

The smartphone also comes with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes. On the back, it sports a 3MP camera with no flash.

Nokia X was unveiled with the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top right from the start, but with no Google services available for its users. Instead, Nokia loaded its own products on it, such as HERE Maps and Nokia MixRadio.

The mobile phone is powered by a 1500mAh battery that should be able to deliver up to 10 hours and 30 minutes of talk time on 3G networks, as well as with the usual set of connectivity capabilities and sensors.
