Future Windows Phones from the company to be more appealing

Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has just announced its first handsets running under Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system and, while these devices look great, there's room for better, it seems.

Sooner rather than later, the vendor will bring to shelves a new range of Windows Phone devices, which should push Nokia in front, it seems.

In a recent interview with GigaOM, Nokia's CEO Stephen Elop notes that they do aim at launching better, more appealing handsets running under Windows Phone.

Last month, Nokia announced the launch of Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 smartphones running under the Windows Phone platform, but they mark only the beginning of Nokia's foray in this area.

Nokia's phones are already different from what other handset vendors have to offer in the Windows Phone market, and future devices will add even more specific features into the mix.

“What we did with the Nokia Lumia introduction was to show the very first examples on how we intend to differentiate,” Stephen Elop stated.

“These is our fist set of products, and what you will see is both our ability to influence the Windows Phone and to do things unique to ourselves, which will expand over time.”

Elop did not mention a specific new Nokia handset to arrive with Windows Phone on board, but rumors already pointed at the company gearing up for the release of Nokia 900 smartphones, which should be superior to Nokia Lumia 800.

According to Nokia's CEO, the company is proud of what they managed to do so far with Windows Phone, and plans on releasing new devices that build on what was achieved so far.

“In the first period of time we've accomplished a great deal, of which we're proud, and now you will just see us blossom moving forward from here,” Stephen Elop stated.

New Nokia Windows Phones are expected to become official next year, when the company also kicks off mass production of these devices.
