Windows Phone devices with dual-SIM capabilities will arrive later this year

Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has made available for download a new version of its network+ application for Windows Phone devices, so as to enable support for Dual-SIM devices inside it.

The application can be downloaded through the Windows Phone Store as version 2.1.1.10 at the moment, offering support for both Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices.

However, although Nokia network+ app shows support for dual-SIM handsets, Microsoft has announced that the technology will arrive only in Windows Phone 8.1.

This means that users will actually have to wait a few months more before seeing dual-SIM WP devices arriving on shelves (a version of Lumia 630 was announced with this capability inside, but no other such handset has gone official as of now).

In addition to offering support for dual-SIM capabilities, the new version of network+ also comes with a smart dual-SIM feature packed inside, which should prove a great option for those who will grab the aforementioned version of Lumia 630.

As for when that might happen, it remains to be seen. Nokia’s new handset should start rolling out to shelves as soon as the next month, and the dual-SIM variant might be released shortly after that, most probably sometime during summer.
