Nokia's Qt SDK 1.1.3 brings important new features to those who want to develop Symbian and Meego applications.

Following the official launch of Nokia's first NFC-enabled smartphones, Nokia 600, 700 and 701, the Finnish company now offers devs the possibility to simulate NFC tags and create and test apps for Symbian and the N9 device, in the same environment.

In addition, devs can download several NFC apps that are in beta testing directly from the Nokia Developer Projects website and see how the technology is implemented for future reference.

Qt SDK 1.1.3 announcement comes several days after Nokia reaffirmed its commitment toward Nokia N9 software support and applications.

The latest version of Qt SDK 1.1.3 comes with the following new features:

- Qt Creator 2.3 — with many small but significant improvements, such as enhanced C++ coding style options and threaded code completion; - Qt Simulator 1.2 — with several new features, including simulation of UI gestures (such as pan and pinch), light sensor, and NFC tags; - Notifications API 1.1 — with the addition of QML binding; - Symbian Complimentary Package update - with latest CODA debug agent, experimental release of Nokia AnalyzeTool, and beta support for Symbian Belle (Qt 4.7.4 and Qt Mobility 1.2). Recently launched on the market, Nokia 600, 700 and 701 take the NFC (Near Field Communication) technology to the next level and allow users to share pictures with other NFC-enabled device with a simple touch.

The Finnish handset maker also plans to launch several NFC-enabled accessories, including the Nokia Play 360° and Nokia Essence Bluetooth Headset.

Devs who want to update to the latest Qt SDK 1.1.3 should be aware that the software cannot be installed as an update to the Nokia Qt SDK 1.0. It is recommended to install the Qt SDK separately on a PC.

Nokia Qt SDK 1.1.3 is available as a free download from Softpedia.
