A new flavor of the Nokia Situations application is now available from the Nokia Beta Labs, version 2.51, released today for users of devices powered by the Symbian^3 operating system.

The new application was meant to make the mobile phone more tied to users lives, through offering them the possibility to set the handset to act in a certain way in different situations.

For example, one can easily define situations manually, such as “In a meeting”, “Sleeping”, “Watching TV”, or “Playing with kids,” and have the mobile device act in a specific manner.

The new version of the app, available only for devices based on the Symbian^3 platform, adds some more features into the mix, such as the possibility to select several apps for an action, or the option to close or launch apps when situations change.

The release notes for the new Nokia Situations 2.51 for Symbian^3 would include:

- Added possibility to close browser when situation changes - Time & WLAN conditions now support multiple selections (remove conditions by long tapping the condition) - Timed option added as in profiles - Small UI changes (long-tap context menus & direct actions on items) - "no change" -option added to Bluetooth, theme & powersave actions - Network location condition improved * Cell ID limit increased to 100 * Added possibility to remove cells from existing network location condition - Bookmark action fix (open bookmark correctly when browser is already started) - Removed background service autostart from sis-installation (caused unexpected problems where settings could not be accessed properly without device restart)

With Nokia Situations, users can trigger combinations of various actions, including changing ringtones UI theme or walpapers, putting the handset to a power-saving mode, open a Web bookmark or application, or answer missed calls with SMS.

One would find it easy to set the handset to perform in a certain manner based on time, location, or connectivity.

The new app can be installed on handsets based on S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2, or on those running Symbian^3. Nokia C6-00, Nokia N97, Nokia N97 mini, Nokia 5228, Nokia 5230, Nokia 5230 Nuron, Nokia 5235 Comes With Music Edition, Nokia 5250, Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, or Nokia X6-00 are among the supported devices too.

Nokia Situations is available for download via Softpedia as well, via this link.
