Earlier this week, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia made available for download a new flavor of its Nokia Maps application for devices running under Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system.

Along with it, the company also released an update to its mapping data, it seems, and users are encouraged to check on their devices for the available refresh.

For that, simply go to Settings> Applications> Maps> Check for Updates. However, users will need to have offline maps already downloaded on their devices (Settings> Applications> Maps> Download Maps), WPCentral notes.

Maps can be downloaded for a specific region or for entire countries, depending on users’ needs. Having them available on the phone for offline use can prove a great feature at specific times, that’s for sure.
