New software updates are now available for download for Nokia's 5800 and 5530 smartphones, namely firmware version 52.0.007 and version 32.0.007, respectively. As it always happens with this kind of updates, users in various markets around the world should receive the solution at different times, which means that not all of them will see the update as being available for their handsets.

However, the software solutions should be visible via Nokia Software Update (NSU), while also being made available as Over-The-Air (OTA) updates.

These handsets are related, as Nokia 5530 was brought to the market last year as the successor of 5800, boasting a smaller screen and the same software.

When it comes to Nokia 5800, the popular XpressMusic smartphone, the release notes for the new OS version include:

Upgrade CPU performance Enhanced touch screen Improved Wi-Fi and OVI connection error Rotate Enhanced New Map Software Better pictures and movies

Users should consider performing a backup of all data on their device before proceeding with the update, so as to make sure that all personal files are there after completing the update.

On Nokia 5530, the software was updated from 31.0.005 to 32.0.007. The same as with 5800, users are advised to backup all data on their devices, even if the handset comes with UDP (User Data Preservation).

The release notes for this software update includes:

Poland – PTC ERA Polish NDT Settings Error Breathing Light is translated wrong Facebook arabic: wrong translation in security notification “Touch screen vibration”, In Arabic UI it is translated wrong Only incoming calls possible, outgoing not possible

Since Nokia already came to the market with a new generation of devices, the software enhancements brought to these older phones are not too impressive, but the good news is that the company hasn't forgotten its users.

As stated above, users should see the new firmware available for download on the phone or via a desktop PC. The newly released Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0 would be a great option when it comes to searching for an update for either of these phones.
