Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia made available for download new flavors of its navigation applications for Windows Phone 8 devices, including HERE Drive, HERE Drive+, and HERE Transit.

Both HERE Drive and HERE Drive+ are currently available for download as version 3.0.4086.0, providing users with personalized commute assistance on their daily routes with My Commute.

“My Commute informs you of the best route and the expected arrival time at a glance on the Live Tile,” a recent post on Nokia Conversations explains.

“When you’re driving, My Commute continues to monitor your route and notifies you of any unexpected delays that might lie ahead and suggest alternative routes. You can even customize My Commute by setting up multiple commutes. My commute is currently available in 26 countries.”

The update also brings along a traffic view to keep users up-to-date on the current traffic flow around them, and delivers simpler access to favorites and route settings.

Additionally, there is a new “north up” perspective available for the interactive compass, meant to make map orientation easier.

For the owners of Windows Phone 8 devices from other manufactures, Nokia delivered updated navigation license via the application’s settings, through which users receive full offline, turn-by-turn navigation in 95 countries.

The new flavor of HERE Transit was designed to deliver a new start experience, which enables users to easily plan their trip in advance, access favorite places, history, and nearby transit stations with a swipe.

Furthermore, users will now find it easier than before to create, access, and manage all of their favorite destinations from the new dedicated favorites screen.

“The user interface and user experience are inextricably linked. This is why we have significantly redesigned the user experience of HERE Transit by taking advantage of the Windows Phone interface,” said post on Nokia Conversations reads.

“We recognize, in fact, how important software design is: people expect well-designed products, which are both aesthetically appealing and extremely intuitive. We therefore observe how our testers behave with our products and we understand when some features are either not found or not used and we go back to the design board with what we’ve learned.”
