Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has rebranded its App Highlights software for Lumia devices, pushing it to the Windows Phone Store under the name of App Social, though retaining the features and capabilities that users could already enjoy with it.

The software was built so as to provide people with the possibility to easily discover new applications for their handsets, and is currently available for download in a beta flavor.

Available exclusively for Windows Phone 8-based Nokia Lumia devices, the app enables users to easily browse through a wide range of curated collections of software.

Furthermore, it also allows them to create their own lists of applications, and to have others follow their collections.

Nokia’s App Social will show not only applications and games that the handset vendor has released for its users, but also the creations of third-party developers.

The main features of the software include:

- Enjoy browsing through tons of different apps lists brought to you by Nokia and App Social BETA users around the world

- While you browse you can thank users for cool app lists

- Sign in to create and share lists of apps with your friends and with the world in order to gain thanks and followers for your lists

- Search for your friends and tech celebrities to start following them and gain insights from their lists of apps

Lumia users who had App Highlights installed on their devices will see it removed and replaced with the new App Social, with should provide improved app discoverability, it seems.

At the moment, the software is available in 14 countries, with a much better social experience than the previous app version had to offer, a recent article on WPCentral notes.

Users interested in downloading the new release should head over to this page in the Windows Phone Store.
