Made official last month, Nokia Transport has just gone gold. The Windows Phone application has just moved from beta to commercial release and will soon be available for download via Marketplace.

Aimed at Lumia users who travel a lot, but don’t own a car, Nokia Transport offers the faster way to reach a destination using only public transport.

With Nokia Transport users can easily search for public transport routes from their current locations to any destination within the same city.

The application provides in-depth information on when it’s best to leave the house and how long it will take to reach destination using multiple routes.

Nokia Transport also offers details of the journey itself and can even give users an arrival time for their planned destination.

There’s more to it, as once users get off the bus, they can take advantage of Nokia Maps application in order to receive guiding directions for the rest of their journey, in case they don’t know how to get there.

All routes and favorite destinations can be added to start screen anytime in case users want to follow the same route again in the future.

And if Nokia Transport users decide to wander off the path recommended by the application, the transport nearby option will show them where the nearest transport link is.

According to the Finnish company, Nokia Transport application currently plans the routes and departure times in more than 100 cities and urban areas. Furthermore, Nokia claims there are estimated route options available in 450+ cities without timetables.

For the time being, Nokia Transport 2.1.0.0 runs on the Lumia 610, 710, 800 and 900, and can be downloaded for free via Marketplace. However, Nokia states that “there might be a publishing delay (1-2 days) on Windows Phone Marketplace in your country or region.”
