Espoo, Finland-based mobile phone maker Nokia recently announced that it was celebrating a quarter-century of wireless industry advances, and that it was highlighting a series of applications and content at CTIA Wireless 2010 show in Las Vegas. According to the company, these solutions are meant to influence the manner in which people interact with today's technology.

Among the solutions the company will have on display at the CTIA Wireless 2010 show, we can count the Nokia 5230 Nuron, which is set to become available for purchase via T-Mobile USA as soon as tomorrow, along with a series of appealing applications available for users of Nokia phones, including OpenTable and Shazam. Moreover, the company also plans on announcing the winners of its 'Push N900 Mod in the USA' contest.

“Twenty-five years ago the actual wireless industry was at its mere inception - at a time when Nokia marked innovation with a giant 'wireless' car phone, the Mobira Talkman. Today, 1.3 billion people around the world have phones - devices that have evolved into an extension of people's lives. It's no longer about the technology, it's about what it can do for you. We're excited to bring solutions to life for both for consumers and developers here at CTIA. This is indeed the year of apps, maps and more - and we're thrilled to be at the forefront,” says Mark Louison, president, Nokia, Inc.

The new Nokia Nuron, a smartphone that will land on March 24 at all T-Mobile stores across the United States, comes with a wide range of features on board, one of the most important one being the free turn-by-turn navigation offered via Ovi Maps. The device includes a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, and 3G connectivity options, and is the first device delivered via a US carrier to feature pre-loaded Ovi Maps and Ovi Store.

At the same time, the company notes that its Ovi Store enjoys at the moment a number of 1.5 million downloads every day. Developers in over 80 countries can publish apps in the store, and users in more than 180 countries in 30 languages can access them. Among the software solutions available there, Nokia counts the OpenTable for Nokia application, through which users can make free, instantly confirmed reservations at over 11,000 restaurants. Not to mention the Shazam on Nokia, via which users can learn more on the music they are listening to.

In addition, Nokia also revealed that it was set to unveil the winning team of the PUSH N900 MOD IN THE USA competition. The contest was aimed at finding unique concepts constructed using the Nokia N900, and the winners will be announced on March 24 at CTIA, the company notes, adding that the top three U.S. competition finalists will showcase their N900 mod innovations at the Nokia Booth.
