Owners of Nokia Lumia devices out there who are also sports fans can enjoy an appealing application on their handsets, in the form of Rollerblade Inline Skates, which was meant to help users improve at the sports and build confidence.

A great deal of health and fitness applications are already available in the Windows Phone Store, but few of them are Lumia-exclusive apps. The new one was designed to follow users’ skating and to keep them connected with their friends.

The software will document where you’ve skated, distance, speed and laps, while also offering info on the calories burned. Moreover, it will save the data on the Lumia handset, as well as on the overall leaderboard, provided that users allow it to.

“You can choose to have mid-skating voice announcements that inform you about your current activity. Just shift the slider to get more or less messages,” a recent post on Nokia Conversations reads.

“Nice big buttons throughout the app make it simple to navigate when skating. However, you can have your current activity set on the lock screen, which means you don’t need to open the app to see how you’re doing.”

Moreover, the software comes with integrated training plans, which are organized by distance and time needed to complete. They feature a great deal of information for beginner, intermediate and advanced inline skaters.

At the same time, the mobile app will provide users with the possibility to purchase individual training plans, which feature a price tag of around £2.29. There are also ad-free and unlimited plans, which will set users back £7.99 for six months, at the lowest.

With Rollerblade Inline Skates on their Lumia handsets, users will also receive access to free tutorial videos, which should easily prove a great way to get started or hone your skills.

On top of that, Nokia explains that the new application has been designed so as to take full advantage of the new SensorCore motion sensors that will be included in the company’s upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 devices.

Through them, users will enjoy even better battery life than before, the aforementioned blog post on Nokia Conversations explains.

You can find Rollerblade Inline Skates available for download through the Windows Phone Store today, completely free.

The mobile app should be compatible with all devices running under the Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 operating system versions. The software, which has been made official by the Rollerblade brand group, can be grabbed only on Lumia devices for the time being.
