14 DAY TRIAL // Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has just announced the launch of a new Ovi Store operator app store concept, developed in collaboration with Orange France and Deutsche Telekom.
The idea is a simple one, involving the delivery of a familiar branded channel on Ovi Store for operators, with support for new handsets from the vendor, including the Nokia C7, Nokia E7 and Nokia N8.
Moreover, the project would include global opportunities aimed operators, for differentiating and building revenues with their own content and carrier billing.
The project was meant to enable carriers differentiate, distribute and compete, providing them with the possibility to come up with their own apps and services with tools that include connectors, Ovi App Wizard, and application programming interfaces (free cloud social and location APIs).
“In addition to the store-in-store advantages, operators can leverage Nokia's local support to create relevant offerings and easily publish apps through the evergrowing Ovi Store,” said Marco Argenti, Senior Vice President, Developer & Marketplace for Nokia.
Moreover, they would be offered the possibility to take advantage of marketing, promotional and content spotlight opportunities in the app store for promoting specific software or content,
There would also be one-click access to the branded collection of apps from a specific carrier straight from the Ovi Store mobile home page experience.
“Nokia's new Ovi Store concept creates a unique opportunity for Orange to promote and market specific apps and content that is most relevant to our customer base all while maintaining a familiar consumer experience,” said Catherine Le Drogo, Director, Multimedia Mobile Offers for Orange France.
Nokia also announced that the Ovi Store managed to top 5 million daily downloads, proving that it is a growing destination for applications, games and content.
The portal also benefits from industry leading integrated operator billing from 112 operators in 37 markets, the handset vendor also announced.
