Earpiece weighs just 5 grams but still looks unusual, bright colors and all

Nokia may be best known for its mobile phones, but it makes other things as well, like a certain headset that has a less than ordinary design, to go with its name of Luna Bluetooth.

With the full name of Nokia Luna Bluetooth Headset, the new audio device was launched alongside the Nokia 603 with Symbian Belle.

People who want to learn about the phone need only drop by this article, where we put up a photo gallery and even a video.

That said, the headset that came with it wins points for design originality and striking colors (anything available in bright blue, yellow, green and fuchsia is bound to leave an impression).

Those aren't even the only colors, or non-colors, as Nokia was sure to include black and white variations.

The Luna has a two-piece design, with a base and the earpiece, the latter weighing just 5 grams (the base is 18.3 grams).

It runs on Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and comes with advanced multipoint capabilities, plus Handsfree profile 1.5 and Headset Profile 1.1.

For those who don't know, multipoint allows one to attach two different phones to the same headset (work and personal phones, for instance).

The Bluetooth connection is automatically established when the earpiece is taken out of the base (incoming calls are automatically answered when the piece is out as well).

Of course, this would be a poor performance on Nokia's part if the newcomer were only compatible with one device, so it made sure that anyone can link it to their mobile phone, as long as said phone is a C7, Oro, 600, 603, 700, 701 or N9.

The battery is good for eight hours of talk time, or sixty days of standby (when the earpiece is left inside the holder).

The price is 69 Euro ($94.73) and sales should start soon, if they haven't already (fourth quarter, 2011). Go here to check out the video and some more photos.
