Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia and AT&T have announced today the release of yet another mobile phone on the carrier's airwaves, namely the Nokia Surge. The new device comes to the operator's lineup with attractive connectivity options, offering users the possibility to enjoy its powerful features when it comes to instant messaging, texting or emailing, as well as sending multimedia messages, while also delivering support for AT&T Video Share and social networking sites.

The device is expected to become available for purchase with the wireless carrier on July 19, and it should bring along a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and Symbian S60 multi-tasking capabilities. At the same time, the device also sports a stylish design, and offers a powerful browsing experience, with Flash support, not to mention the pre-installed JuiceCaster application that enables users to post messages, images, videos, and comments on sites such as Facebook.

“Launching at 79.99 USD with a complete email solution, downloadable applications and full HTML browser with Flash support, Nokia Surge hits the sweet spot between a quick messaging phone and a smartphone because of its low-price and strong feature set,” said Michael Woodward, vice president, Mobile Phone Portfolio, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.

The specification list of the device also includes a 2.0-megapixel photo snapper with digital zoom, as well as support for AT&T Navigator, AT&T Mobile Music and AT&T Video Share. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr are now much closer with the JuiceCaster applications that will come on the Nokia Surge right out of the box.

The new handset will come to select AT&T retail locations and on the carrier's website with the price tag set at 79.99 USD with a two-year contract agreement and after a mail-in rebate. (129.99 USD with a 50.00 USD mail-in rebate). However, the carrier also notes that the rebate requires a wireless voice plan of 39.99 USD a month and a data plan of 30.00 USD a month. More details can be found on the phone maker's website.
