Nokia Sleeping Screen, the mobile application that enables owners of Symbian devices to have images displayed on the screen of their mobile phones while in sleep mode, has just been updated with a nice range of new features included into the mix.

In addition to expanding the available features and capabilities of the application, the new release also brings a series of fixes into the mix, based on the feedback those who tried the application provided.

The new update comes straight from the Nokia Beta Labs and was meant for all Symbian devices that sport AMOLED screens, the development team explains.

Some of the main improvements included in the new release would be:

- The most wanted feature: use your own background images! It is now possible to add your own images from the photo gallery. - "Add my own" tool will convert your photos & drawings to be suitable for Nokia Sleeping Screen - Completely re-designed QML based settings view - New experimental clock style - There are now two selectable clock & notifications styles: o original "colorful" style o new "plain clock" style, which gives more room for the background images - New pre-installed image themes and additional images to the old themes - Follows phone orientation when keys are locked (i.e. now supports landscape)

The Nokia Sleeping Screen application was tested on Symbian^3 and Symbian Anna mobile phones and is sure to work on C6-01, C7-00, N8-00, E7-00 and X7-00. It will require at least Qt version 4.7.3 and QtMobility 1.1.3, as well as Qt Quick Components 1.0 to work.

“It is not only about aesthetics - Nokia Sleeping Screen is highly useful, too. With just a glimpse you’ll be able to see missed calls, unread text messages, and reminders presented with clear icons and animations,” the team behind the application explains.
