TerreStar Networks selected Nokia Siemens Networks to deploy its Internet-High Speed Packet Access solution for the future TerreStar all-IP integrated satellite and terrestrial wireless communications system. The deployment is the first I-HSPA network deployment for Nokia Siemens Networks and represents an important milestone for the standardized Nokia Siemens
technology.

As an incorporated part of an I-HSPA flat architecture solution, the Flexi WCDMA Base Station will be provided by Nokia Siemens Networks. Also, complete design, engineering and optimization services will be provided for the TerreStar network deployment.

"Today's announcement marks a series of firsts for Nokia Siemens Networks: we're deploying the first I-HSPA network, we're delivering the first satellite band Flexi, and we're deploying the first direct tunnel packet core," said Sue Spradley, Head of North America, Nokia Siemens Networks. "We're truly excited that TerreStar has chosen the advantages of Nokia Siemens Networks' state-of-the-art solutions to be incorporated into their architecture enabling the first ever all IP-based 4th Generation Network Application environment. Additionally, we look forward to introducing the capabilities of TerreStar to our industry clients and prospects through a joint marketing plan with TerreStar that will be implemented beginning this quarter."

Robert Brumley, President and Chief Executive Officer of TerreStar, said: "Nokia Siemens Networks' Flexi platform and I-HSPA architecture deliver the network performance and economics that are essential to supporting next-generation mobile communications services over our integrated satellite-terrestrial system. Nokia Siemens Networks' ability to deliver world-class solutions on an aggressive deployment schedule was a critical factor in our selection process as we build out North America's first 4G integrated mobile satellite and terrestrial communications network."

I-HSPA creates a high-end wireless service architecture suitable for native IP application (like data, voice and mission critical information applications) and eliminates legacy circuit-switched technology. The Internet-High Speed Packet Access solution is the single all-IP solution available on the market and it suits perfectly the edge deployment within TerreStar's MSS service.

The TerreStar network will be running from 2008, providing adaptable applications and universal access to consumers all over North America via wireless devices.
