Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has been rumored not too long ago to be planning the launch of new Windows Phone 8-based devices with higher camera resolutions, and some more confirmation on the matter is now available.

Nokia hasn’t confirmed the existence of this device as of now, but sources close to the company do say that it is planning on launching a 41MP PureView smartphone in the Lumia series, a recent article on The Guardian claims.

The smartphone should sport the name of EOS, it seems, and might arrive on shelves in the United States sometime this summer.

Last year, Nokia launched its latest Windows Phone flagship device, the Lumia 920, which does sport a PureView camera sensor, but only an 8-megapixel one.

However, following the launch of Nokia 808 PureView at MWC 2012 with a 41MP camera on the back, the release of a Lumia smartphone with similar technology does not seem far-fetched.
