Upcoming Nokia Lumia devices have already been said to be capable of proving highly appealing, and it seems that new capabilities packed inside them will ensure that this indeed happens.

Among these, we can count water-resistant technology, which should be included at least in one of the upcoming smartphones from the Finnish handset vendor.

According to some of the latest reports on the matter, Nokia has partnered with P2i for the building of a device that would sport nano-coating technology making it water-repelling.

Although no specific info on the matter has been provided as of now, mobiltelefon.ru claims that at least one new Lumia device will be released with this capability packed inside.

P2i has already worked with other mobile phone makers out there for the launch of waterproof devices, such as Alcatel One Touch, Huawei Ascend D2, and others.

The technology involves covering a handset’s internals, such as the motherboard and other parts with said nano-coat, which would allow them to bounce off liquid substances.

While other devices feature vacuum caps and lids, this approach allows manufacturers to design them with the usual open ports such as a headphone jack, micro USB and the like, GSM Arena notes in a recent post.

As mentioned above, Nokia did not offer details on this deal as of now, but rumor has it that it might try the aforementioned water-resistant feature on the long rumored Lumia 1000 EOS smartphone.

For those out of the loop, we should note that this device has been said before to arrive on shelves with Nokia’s PureView camera technology, and to be able to deliver a far better imaging experience than the Lumia 920.

We’ll take the info with a grain of salt for the time being, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see Nokia indeed launching such a Windows Phone 8 device, since it would bring it in line with what rival handsets running under Android have to offer at the moment.
