Nokia, the world leader in mobile communications, has released a firmware update (Nokia N93 RM-55 MCU SW v 11.0.034) for its N93 mobile handset, designed to work on WLAN, 3G (WCDMA 2100 Mhz), EDGE and GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz) networks, thus being capable of broadband internet access with all the goodies it includes: content upload and download, sending and receiving email, internet browsing, and other web related things.

The new firmware can be applied on your N93 camcorder mobile phone with the help of the Nokia Software Updater which is embedded on the Nokia Europe website, and you can access it at this address: http://www.europe.nokia.com/A4176089.

Be warned though that you must backup all your personal data from the memory phone because during the approximate 30 minutes long software upgrade process, all user data on the phone will be erased and gone for good.

The new firmware will bring you the following improvements:

- Camera buffer changes for more free RAM. - 24.7MB free RAM after boot-up (18.8MB in PR1). - Out of Memory framework threshold changes. - Change default setting of Optical zoom for video to off. - Camera application freezes in low memory situation. - Fixes for a few potential crash in camera application. - Fix for SMS freeze. - Uncompressed bitmap taken into use and WServ fix. - SMS sending delay, hangs fixed. - Call crashes fixed. - Probability reduced by having uncompressed bitmap/wserv/RAM changes. - Does not read voice mail number from Cingular USIM - bug fixed.

If you will strictly follow the Nokia steps for the update of your phone's software, it should go very smooth and you will have a device that will no longer have the 12 bugs mentioned above crawling around in your N93 handset. Happy updating!
