Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced the availability of its Nokia Transit application for all Asha phones with full-touch screens, providing users with an easy way to navigate cities by public transportation.

The same as the Windows Phone flavor of the application, Nokia Transit for Asha enables users to search for public transport stations and stops, while also enabling them to find addresses and POIs.

It will provide them with multiple routes to choose from, while also offering a list of directions for buses, trams, underground or trains.

The features list of the application also includes:

- Get earlier/later journeys. - Have your favorite destinations saved to future use on your journeys. - Have your favorite journeys saved for offline usage, saving time and money on data plans. - Find nearby stations, departure times and even types of transit lines available around your location. - View detailed line stops and times before you get off.

At the moment, the mobile app has been made available for download only in a beta flavor, though it is likely to graduate to a stable release, provided that issues with it are found and resolved.

According to the team of developers over at the Nokia Beta Labs, the software has been already tested on handsets such as the Nokia Asha 305, Nokia Asha 306, Nokia Asha 308, Nokia Asha 309 and Nokia Asha 311, and is certain to work on them.

Nokia Transit for full-touch Asha phones can be found on this page on Softpedia. It can be downloaded either directly on the handset, or via a PC, and then transferred to the phone.

Those who will take the application for a spin are encouraged to provide feedback on their experience with it, so that improvements could be made. For that, they will have to join the discussion on the app over at the Nokia Beta Labs.
