A new flavor of the Nokia Reader application is now available for download on handsets running under the Symbian^3 mobile operating system, the mobile RSS reader that arrived on S60 5th Edition and Symbian^3 not too long ago.

The new version of the application was meant to fix a series of issues, as well as to add some improvements into the mix, so that users would enjoy a better experience while on the go.

“The Nokia Reader team has today released an upgrade to Ovi Notifications Support Package (ONSP) for Symbian^3 devices. ONSP v1.1.11118 upgrade contains multiple fixes that provide improvements for Reader,” the dev team notes in a recent blog post.

The release notes of the new app version include: - Improvements for connectivity - Fixes the bug that forced user to re-enter Nokia Account username and password - Fixes the bug that caused Reader to stop from working on some devices, requiring Reader to be re-installed

The development team behind the application notes that users of Symbian^3 devices like the Nokia N8, C6-01, C7, and E7 would be those to benefit from the new enhancements.

The mobile application can be easily set up on any supported mobile phone, and is compatible with pre-populated lists of major news sources, while also supporting the addition of new feeds.

“Looking for a simple and easy to use RSS reader to manage news feeds on your Symbian^3 or S60 5th Edition device? Reader pushes your favorite news feeds to your homescreen allowing you to quickly catch up on current events,” Nokia notes.

One thing that should be noted is that the service is only experimental for the time being, and that some issues with it might occur. More info on the app can be found in the video embedded below.

The software's development team notes that Nokia Reader has been already tested on handsets like Nokia N97, Nokia N97 Mini, Nokia X6, Nokia N8 and Nokia C7.
