Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has been rumored for quite some time to be planning the release of a smartphone running under Android, namely the Nokia Normandy, and the handset appears to have received certification in Indonesia.

A listing on POSTEL, the certification authority of the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information, mentions the handset’s model number, Nokia RM-980, which suggests that this would be Normandy, as Nokianesia notes.

However, the listing does not mention Nokia as the phone’s manufacturer, although the company’s name is clearly visible next to the model number.

Nokia Normandy is expected to become official in the not too distant future with a “forked” version of Android loaded on top, and should be released as part of the vendor’s Asha series. Provided, of course, that Nokia is indeed planning on putting the phone up for sale.
