Starting today, the owners of Nokia’s Lumia 920, Lumia 925 and Lumia 928 smartphones can download and install the Nokia Pro Camera application on their devices, provided that they have already updated them to the Windows Phone 8 GDR2 platform release.

The new software update, also known as Nokia Amber, is already rolling out to handsets out there, and Nokia added support for the aforementioned camera application on these three devices, after officially launching the software on Nokia Lumia 1020.

With Pro Camera, users will enjoy a better imaging experience on their smartphones, courtesy of options for controlling the shutter speed, EV value, ISO (100 to 4,000), white balance, and manual focus.

At the same time, the application comes with new features to Lumia 920, 925 and 928 users, including:

- Slide to zoom: One finger operation, so you can even zoom if you’re holding your PureView Lumia with one hand

- Improved focus handling: Touch the screen to focus on an area and manual focus makes it easier to shoot close ups and achieve the beautiful ‘Bokeh’ effect or background blur

- Video recording: Lossless 1.8x zoom and stereo recording

- Reframing: Using two-fingers you can rotate the image and there’s also the ability to change the aspect ratio.

According to a recent post on Nokia Conversations, Pro Camera on these three smartphones will lack only two features when compared to the version installed on the Lumia 1020, namely zoom and dual-capture.

“Dual-capture is only possible using the Nokia Lumia 1020’s 41-megapixel sensor, which benefits from Nokia’s oversampling technology. Without dual capture, it also means that the ‘un-zoom’ feature, which lets you see the ‘wider’ picture even after you’ve zoomed in to take your photo, is not available,” said post explains.

Nokia's Pro Camera application also arrives on devices with useful tutorials, so that users could easily find the settings that could help them take the best shot possible.

“Set as your default, Pro Camera will be launched automatically every time you press the hardware camera button on the side of your Nokia Lumia. Taking a photo with your Nokia Lumia will never be the same again. Simply download from the Nokia Collection of the apps store,” Nokia Conversations continues.

Nokia Pro Camera can be found on this page in the Windows Phone Store.
