Following the announcement regarding the availability of new, updated applications for its Windows Phone users, Nokia also unveiled plans to deliver a new set of updates to its Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 devices.

The new OS upgrade is expected to become available for all owners of these smartphones starting with June 27th, and it will provide them with a nice range of enhancements.

Among them, we can count Internet Sharing (WiFi Hotspot), through which users will be able to share their mobile internet connection over WiFi with up to five additional devices or computers.

Moreover, the new software update will bring along a Flip to silence feature, so that users could silence incoming calls through simply flipping the phone face down.

The best part of the deal, however, is the fact that this OS upgrade will provide users with the possibility to enjoy the newly announced applications for the Lumia line.

Camera Extras, Counters, Contact share, and the Play to app will be supported on the Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 devices only after the aforementioned upgrade is installed.

“This software update is available for the Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710 during June and July 2012,” Nokia notes on its website.

Since all these features were already made available for the Lumia 900 and Lumia 610 users, they need not upgrade their devices.

The new software will arrive on handsets through the Zune PC app (Windows) or Windows Phone 7 Connector (Mac OS), and will require for users to connect their devices to a computer.

Following the update, the firmware on Nokia Lumia 800 should show the last five digits in the form of 122xx, while the software for Lumia 710 should be in the form of 121xx. These numbers can be found under Settings > about > more information > Firmware revision.

Users can check on the availability of these updates in their region on Nokia's website.
