Nokia's N8 Symbian handset is known for its high-quality camera, and it seems that a successor for this device, one that will also pack a great camera on the back, is headed for shelves in the coming months.

The same as Nokia N8, the upcoming device is expected to run under the Symbian OS, and should feature the same touchscreen display as the predecessor.

According to UnwiredView, the smartphone will feature a 3.5” WVGA Clear Black display with Gorilla Glass, which means that it will be no bigger than the high-end device that landed on shelves last year.

Moreover, the news site notes that the new mobile phone might include a 1GHz application processor when made available for purchase, and that it will pair it with 512MB of RAM.

Rumor has it that Nokia will not launch the new mobile phone before the second quarter of the next year, though it might announce it during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next year.

However, it remains to be seen whether the device will indeed make it to the event, since Nokia is actually expected to push to the spotlight new Windows Phone devices in Barcelona.

Apparently, the main reason for which Nokia hasn't yet packed high-resolution cameras in Windows Phone devices is the fact that the mobile platform does not offer support for them as of yet.

This does not mean that Windows Phone will not offer support for such cameras, but only that it is not yet ready for great imaging capabilities.

Symbian, on the other hand, has proven its features in the area, and it would make sense for Nokia to pack it inside a handset with such camera capabilities.

For the time being, however, no specific info on the camera resolution the N8 successor would feature emerged, though it should not be too long before specific details on the matter are unveiled, so stay tuned to learn the news.
