Nokia Play To, the mobile application that was made available for devices running under Symbian^3, has just got an update, courtesy of the guys over at Nokia Beta Labs. The Nokia Play To application was designed to offer users the possibility to have photos and videos that have been taken with their handset shown on the TV at home, or to their friends over the air.

Moreover, the application also enables users to easily listen to music from their devices on the home audio system, as long as WLAN is on.

The same as the initial flavor of the mobile software, the new release was made available in beta, but there is a nice range of enhancements and improvements that users will enjoy.

In addition to various fixes for some of the issues the application came to handsets with a few weeks ago, the new release of Nokia Play To also adds Xbox support into the mix, something that should make many users rejoice.

The full list of improvements included with the new Nokia Play To release shows: - Server support for Xbox (see More info -tab... Known issues) - Video progress bar buffering indication - Improved WLAN transmission throughput (may help making video streaming smooth) - LG Blu-ray player support fixed - Many minor fixes / improvements.

As stated above, the application was made available for handsets running under the Symbian^3 platform, and comes with support for the following phone models: Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7, Nokia E7, Nokia N8 and Nokia X7.

“Nokia Play To is meant for playing media stored on mobile i.e. it is not possible to access other DLNA devices with it,” the development team notes over at the Nokia Beta Labs.

“We wanted to concentrate on creating a solution for easily enjoying mobile media on a big TV screen or with an audio system. If you are familiar with DLNA technology we are supporting push and server functionalities with our current implementation.”

The new version of Nokia Play To is available for download from Softpedia as well, via this link.
