Nokia Play To, the Symbian mobile application aimed at offering users the possibility to wirelessly play music from the handset on the home audio system, or show photos taken with the device on the large screen of a TV, has just been updated to version 10.02(4).

Only a beta release of the time being, the application comes with a series of improvements aimed mainly at PS3 and Xbox users, but also sports enhancements that other users will benefit from.

The release notes for the new software release includes:

- Bug fix for handling large media amount with Xbox - Bug fix for PS3 music and videos stopping problem - Better interoperability (e.g. with new Samsung TVs, Philips TV and MP4, better Matroska support) - Some performance improvements

The same as the previous version of the application, the new iteration, made available for download on Monday, is compatible with Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7, Nokia E7, Nokia N8 and Nokia X7 handsets.

The features and capabilities of this mobile application remain the same, though the said performance improvements will certainly look very appealing to the owners of one of the aforementioned devices, based on either Symbian^3 or Symbian Anna.

Nokia Play To lets you show photos and videos taken with your mobile to your friends wirelessly on your TV,” the development team explains.

“Or you can listen to your favorite music stored on your mobile with your home audio system. Just launch Play To, select the device and media you want to play. No configuration is needed once WLAN is on and all devices are connected to the same network.”

Before proceeding with the installation, users should have a look at the instructions the development team behind the application posted on the Nokia Beta Labs website.

Keep in mind that the application is only in beta, and that there might be various issues that users will meet when running it on their phones.
