Today’s smartphones are more than just communication devices. They represent our means to navigate the Internet and connect with friends on social networking sites too, and are also used for storing great memories.

When it comes to sharing these memories with friends and family, things might prove a bit difficult on the small screen of the smartphone, but Nokia has got a solution for that, namely Nokia Play To.

Initially released for Symbian devices, the application was recently made available for the company’s Windows Phones as well, providing users with the possibility to share photos, videos and other content from the phone straight on the large screen of TVs or computers.

The app was designed not only to make the sharing of content easier than before, but also to provide users with a great experience when doing so.

“This app lets you show pictures, videos and play music from your Nokia Lumia on other DLNA capable devices, such as TVs, Blu-Ray players and PCs, which are connected to the same wireless network,” Nokia explains.

To connect to a supported device, simply fire up the application, go to Connection > Broadcast, and search for any TVs or other electronics that you have connected to said network. The TV will also display a connectivity dialog, and you’re good to go.

As soon as the connection is created, simply return to the main Play To screen, where you can choose to share photos, videos, or music.

The application will deliver a straightforward experience when it comes to sharing, regardless of the type of content you choose to display on the large screen.

The viewing experience will be great, Nokia Conversations notes in a recent blog post, adding that all should work like a charm, without lag or hiccups. The Nokia Play to application is currently available for Lumia users in the Nokia Collection section in the Windows Phone Marketplace.
