Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has just made available for download a new application for its Nokia Lumia smartphones, namely Nokia Play To.

Through this application, users will find it easier to share photos or videos with their friends straight from their Windows Phone handsets, the same as they were able to do on Symbian phones.

“With Play To you can share your photos and videos from your Nokia Lumia phone to your DLNA-capable devices over your WLAN network,” Nokia explains in a post on Nokia Beta Labs.

“This could be that new big screen TV you have or maybe just your Windows7 laptop and/or desktop. Play To makes sharing easy.”

At the moment, the application can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Marketplace only on Nokia’s Lumia devices.

Those who will download and install it are also encouraged to offer feedback on the experience they receive, so that more enhancements will be included into the mix.

“For future releases, we're also working on supporting music sharing and planning functionality to allow your handset to act as a DLNA Media Server,” Nokia says.

“This means your Microsoft Xbox360 and similar devices would be able to discover and play memories from your phone. Stay tuned for this exciting functionality!”

All owners of a Nokia Lumia 710, Nokia Lumia 800, (and Nokia Lumia 900, soon) should be able to enjoy the features and capabilities of this application.

Along with Nokia Play To, the Finnish giant also released a new version of its Nokia Music application for handsets running under Windows Phone.

Nokia hasn’t offered a change log for the new application release as of now, but some of those who installed it suggest that there are slightly changes to the interface.

The software can be found in the Windows Phone Marketplace in Nokia’s section, where the new Nokia Play To will also be found.
