Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia might bring to the spotlight this week a new, impressive S40 mobile phone, one that would sport a 1GHz application processor inside.

Apparently, the handset vendor would aim at making the device official during the Nokia Connection 2011 in Singapore, when CEO Stephen Elop will be present as well.

At the said event, Nokia should unveil a series of other products as well, aimed mainly at the emerging markets around the world.

The said powerful device is reportedly expected to sport a ClearBlack capacitive touchscreen display on the front, and might also offer fast access to an application store to download and install software on the go.

Moreover, the fast 1GHz application processor is expected to be accompanied by 512MB of RAM, which would certainly provide a lot of raw power to users.

Other purported specifications of this unannounced Nokia mobile phone would also include a QWERTY keypad to accompany the touchscreen.

Moreover, it is expected to arrive with 3G HSDPA connectivity, as well as with Wi-Fi capabilities. Most probably, it would include Bluetooth and a 3.5mm headphone jack too.

Nothing was officially announced, but the info comes from Nokia’s Manager of Marketing in Argentina, Fernando Freytes, which suggests that things might indeed pan out soon.

The info was delivered on Twitter, but the messages were already pulled down. However, provided that Nokia is gearing up for the launch of such a powerful S40-based mobile phone, it should not be too long before things are made official.

Hopefully, we will be able to learn more on the matter as soon as this week, so keep an eye on this space for more info on the matter.

In the meantime, we should note that Nokia is also expected to announce a series of other mobile phones this week, including a long rumored Nokia C2-06. No new smartphone would be announced this week, it seems.
