A slider with a QWERTY keyboard and amazing features

It still remains unknown whether the leaked photos of the Nokia N99 are a Photoshop creation and its specs are just someone's way of being creative, or not.

But Nokia's recent patent filings show that the Finish mobile phone manufacturer is in fact working on a slider phone that features a QWERTY keyboard as well as a numerical keypad. Although there are no details that point to this device being the N99, it doesn't really mater what name it bears as long as Nokia is preparing such a phone for launch.

The form factor of the device clearly suggests that it will come packed with features. The rumored features include a 9-way front joystick button, 16 GB Flash internal memory, a MiniSD card slot supporting up to 4GB memory cards, 3.2 inch wide screen, GPS capabilities, MP3 player, WiFI and a 8 megapixel camera with 3CCD 720 pixel wide 30fps video recording.

This sounds a little far fetched, but still possible. You can already find a 10-megapixel camera in the Samsung B600 or an 800 x 320-pixel screen in Nokia's own E90 Communicator. Also, Nokia's N95 that started shipping today also comes packed with some amazing features, and is proof of what the Finish manufacturer is capable of in terms of smartphones.

Moreover, nothing suggests that this phone will be released soon, and the smartphones that will be available in about a year or two should sport the same specs mentioned here. Leaving all rumored info aside, there is a patent filing so one such device will exist, and all gadget fans will most likely be looking forward to its release.
