Nokia just announced that its Nseries brand would be the sole "telecom sponsor" of the Young Lions Film Competition, which is part of the famous Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival (this year, the festival will be held between the 15th and the 21st of June).

The Young Lions Film Competition is created to encourage young and talented people to embrace the advertising industry. All the teams participating in the film category will receive a Nokia Nseries smartphone to shoot the videos that they intend to present for the competition. Parts of these videos are regularly uploaded by Nokia on its Nseries website dedicated to Cannes, that users can find at this address.

No less than 27 teams, with members under 28 years of age, selected from all over the world, will have to film and edit clips of no more than 60 seconds with their Nseries phones. The clips considered to be the best will be announced on the 21st of June.

Johan Eidhagen, Marketing Director, Explore category, Nokia, said about the collaboration with the Cannes festival: "The Young Lions Competition provides us with an excellent opportunity to showcase our Nokia Nseries range as the mobile devices for content creation and creativity. With their state-of-the art image and video capture and sharing features, Nokia Nseries handsets enable people to take full advantage of their creativity."

Besides sponsoring the Young Lions Film Competition, Nokia also prepares for "The Cannes Experiment". This is what the Finnish company calls a "creative hub" set to offer the chance to play around with customized and unique Nseries handsets (for the people attending the Cannes festival, of course).

Known as the "Oscars of advertising", the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival attracts more than 10,000 visitors every year, being the world's most important festival of this kind.
