A new application was recently added to the Ovi Store, after spending a lot of time in the Nokia Beta Labs, namely Nokia Notifications. According to its development team, the beta trial was concluded not too long ago, and the app has been added to the Ovi Store for all those interested to download it.

However, the software solution was made available only for a small number of users, as it currently supports only three device models from Nokia, namely the Nokia N97, Nokia N97 Mini, and the Nokia C6.

“The Nokia Notifications team would like to thank the Beta Labs community for the valuable feedback we’ve received during the Nokia Notifications beta trial,” the developing team notes in a recent post on Nokia Beta Labs.

“The items discussed here very much reflected what we've thought within the team, e.g. adding emails and chat messages. There were some also some interesting new ideas, like having the widget also in the privacy page,” the blog post continues.

As stated above, the application was made available in the Ovi Store with a series of installation bug fixes too, the developing team states.

All in all, the team was pretty content with the result of their work, stating that the widget should add value to Nokia handsets, and that users would benefit from a notifications experience similar with the one available for the owners of Symbian^3 devices.

“Some of the suggestions unfortunately are not possible without changes to the platform applications, and those are very rarely done to in-market devices. There were also a lot of comments about the calendar reminders, which unfortunately will be working only from certain software release onwards,” the team also noted.

It should be noted that all those who own a Nokia N97, Nokia N97 Mini, or a Nokia C6 and would like to get the new application version are advised to uninstall the Beta Labs version first, and only then download and install the new release on their devices.
