From Japan to the US

Japan seems to have been a small land for Nokia NM705i, as it now looks to hit the US as well. The handset has been spotted at FCC looking for its approval to be released on this market as well.

Mobile phones from the US usually don't mix with the Japanese ones. They all stick to their original market, especially as mobile phones in Japan look pretty special and nothing like what people are used to see on other continents. It's rather strange to find Nokia NM705i waiting at FCC to cross the US borders, especially as we have seen it released at Japan's main operator, NTT DoCoMo just a few days ago.

There are high chances that the radio frequency will be changed as to best match the new market that the mobile phone will be released on. The phone has been designed to work with Japan's FOMA network, which stands for WCDMA 2100. The phone also has WCDMA 800/850 and quad-band GSM, which will be a perfect match with AT&T.

The phone seems to be a low-end one, with a FM radio and Bluetooth connectivity to impress. There is also a 2-megapixel camera included which will manage to take only average quality captures and nothing more. The phone now has Japanese letters on the keypad, but things are sure to change once it hits the USA.

The major problem with devices from the Japanese market entering other areas would be when some of the most evolved features are included. Mobile TV, for example, is far from reaching the same evolution on other continents as in Asia.

There is no word on pricing and availability for Nokia NM705i and there are high chances that it will get a silent release, with little excitement, which was exactly the case with its recent unveiling at NTT DoCoMo.
