Nokia N950, the MeeGo-based developer device that Nokia unveiled to the world last week, has just passed through FCC, where it got torn to pieces, offering us a glimpse at all the internal circuitry it will arrive in developers' hands with.

The Nokia N950 is already being handed to developers interested in coming up with applications for the MeeGo platform.

There were not too many details available in regard to the mobile phone's hardware specifications, although we assumed it would be similar with the Nokia N9.

However, the aforementioned FCC teardown (via MyNokiaBlog) unveiled a series of interesting details on the handset, such as the fact that it was packed with a 12-megapixel photo snapper on the back, the same as Nokia's N8 smartphone.

Just as previously rumored, the handset sports a side-sliding design, with a full-QWERTY keyboard included into the mix, and a tilting display, as can be seen in the first photo attached to this article.

Other interesting details that were unveiled by FCC include the fact that the mobile phone will come with a BL-4D battery inside, with less capacity than the battery inside the Nokia N9.

All in all, the Nokia N950 seems to be a pretty solid device, and those who would like to come up with applications for the N9 will certainly enjoy it.

What should be noted here is the fact that N950 comes only with a pre-release version of the software loaded on N9, and that it does not sport NFC features either.

The handset will be delivered for free to all qualifying developers who already published apps to the Ovi Store, or started building applications using the Qt development tool.

“To help prepare for the publishing of apps for the Nokia N9 smartphone, a limited number of developer kits have been produced using the Nokia N950 phone,” a page on Nokia Developer reads.

“The Nokia N950 Developer Kit is available to qualifying Nokia Developer Launchpad members who have published apps to Ovi Store, or have started to develop their apps using Qt.

“If you wish to obtain one of these kits, please send your request to: [email protected]. The deadline for submitting requests is 31 July 2011.”
